Day ride: Avon Dam
Bright start, damp later
7 Participants: Michael Jones, Paul Palmer, Kevin Presland (Adult, Bovey Tracey), Luke Rake, Andrew Simmons, Roger Simmons, John Stuart
Torbay section were ready to leave when we finally arrived at Totnes, bringing members up to eighteen or so. The boys coped quite well with the fast pace set by Torbay, and after the steep climb from South Brent through Aish the group arrived at Shipley Bridge in time for lunch, having lost only two or three Torbay members along the way.

The rain, which had been threatening all morning, did its best to ruin the afternoon jaunt across the moor by drizzling everywhere. The letterboxers were not deterred however, and Andrew collected his 50th stamp near the dam.

Tea was hastily and very generously arranged at Summerlands (Andrew’s home in Buckfastleigh) to cheer everyone up after the long and damp descent to Wallaford, making a pleasant if premature conclusion to another enjoyable ride. Unfortunately Torbay members left too late to avoid the downpour on their way home.
